Biography

The Aurora Duo have been working together since the year 2000. Kate Smith, harpist and Dawn Miller, Flautist studied under renowned soloists Sioned Williams and Wissam Boustany at Trinity College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London winning the Trinity College of Music Gold Medal, the UK Harp Association Prize and the Croydon Music Festival Concerto Prize.

Finalists of the “Gaetano Zinetti” International Chamber Music Competition and recommended artists for the Making Music “Young Concert Artist Award”, they have performed extensively and to great acclaim throughout the UK and Europe. They are much in demand with various orchestras, having performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto in London, Birmingham and Glasgow. They completed a successful tour of Scotland in October 2004 and are set to return in April 2006.

The Aurora Duo has recently been accepted on to the Lost Chord scheme whereby they give regular workshops on tours in the North of England to the elderly with dementia. This is a thoroughly fulfilling addition to the duo’s ability to bring music to all.

As orchestral players they have worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra for radio broadcasts, CD recordings and live performances at the Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Centre and St John’s, Smith Square.

The Aurora Duo work in association with Wright Music Promotions and the Concordia Foundation.
